Enjoy The Detour

Blog about my journey

9/5 - The beginning

Welcome to my little cave.  Names Mike/Jolith/Valin/Michael whatever you want to call me.  I am a 33 year old guy from the northern south. The point of this blog is mostly to get down in words a lot of what is going on in my life.  The recent explosions of blogs has some people jaded with how glamorous these people's lives look. Which I totally understand, you want to make your life marked by the high moments as well as the mediocre.  And honestly mine with of course have the high, but I also want to record the low. Some days I’ll do videos, some days I’ll do text, but more than anything I just want to remember my slice of life during this time.

I’m going to start off by writing down the things I will talk about and the general feel of this blog

  • The Detour - It is what I call the best moments in life. It’s the little moments in the day or week that made me laugh or smile or just in general something I wasn’t expecting

  • Entertainment - I love entertainment. Games(Video and Board), movies, comics, art, it’s all a big part of who I am and it is my ‘area of expertise’

  • Game Development - I have two degrees in game design and I am in the process of creating said game. I want to use this page as a way to document the process and the struggles and wins I have during that time

  • Being Positive - I feel like so much of nerd culture is negative or pessimistic.  A lot of that stems from us being marginalized, laughed at, bullied, and made to feel like an other throughout our formative years.  While I will definitely talk about some of that I want to remain positive through all of this. When discussing the ‘darkness’ as I like to call it, I want to end on a positive not

  • Nerd Culture - I have been happily married for almost a decade and will discuss some slice of life topics with my other half(better half is such a stupid phrase and damaging to the relationship).  We will always talk about what we are into during this current time and why it makes us happy. (This will be in the form of a podcast)

I hope you enjoy this detour with me!
